On the outskirts of safety,
There’s a road that meets its end.
All the paths and plains, abating,
Suggest a cold and bitter end.
But a forest stands between them,
The mirror and the twin.
The wild wolves are howling,
and a blackbird sings within.

======

May your deserts and your wastelands
Have rivers running through
Springing green and little gardens
At the outcrop of doom.
May your eyes be ever forward:
On upward stream is Home.
Behold The Mountain in the twilight,
And the softening of soul.

======

Twin souls figure-eighting
In the bright light of the moon.
Hearts contemplating
the wreckage and the ruin.
But the blackbird’s song is carried on,
Into the dark of a dead black night –
A gentle breeze through the willow trees
Comes beckoning his flight.

======

May your deserts and your wastelands
Have rivers running through,
Springing green and little gardens
At the outcrop of doom.
May your eyes be ever forward:
On upward stream is Home.
Behold The Mountain in the twilight,
And the softening of soul.
Behold The Mountain in the twilight,
And the softening of soul.
