boundary barn

well now
this boundary-starved desert
we find ourselves in
is treacherous indeed.

There are many dangers here,
no doubt, lurking in shadow
and buried underneath sand.

No, we cannot see them,
but surely they lie sleeping,
lazily purring until their time.

But I’d rather we dig them up,
gently raise them unaroused
and place them in barn stalls
built and agreed upon by us
and call this place
our common ground
